Dreamtime!

Just started researching Aboriginal art!

Intrigued by the idea of an upper and lower self, an id/ego/superego, an above and below mountain, above and below consciousness sort of concept.

Also comes from the unusual and repetitive nature of the dreams I've been having, and how they have consistently been telling me things of substance.

Thinking about creating more narrative pieces of art following the storyline of these dreams.  Seeing how I can work in an audio element as well.

Some interesting concepts to explore:

  • continuity of life--before birth and after death, among fellow humans, between humans and landscape
  • culture heroes travel through formless land and by their travel create their sacred sites--giving shape to the shapeless, meaning-making, order to chaos.  Signage
  • "Every event leaves a record in the land" ...in this case, the land is like the mind
  • Songlines: paths across the land or SKY! they help people navigate, listening to the rhythm of the land! "A labyrinth of invisible pathways", "Singing the world into existence"
More to discover:
  • Darling Scarp
  • Wagyl
  • Swan River
  • "The Songlines" by Bruce Chatwin

And now, some glorious images from da web!
