Pine Barrens I

Gearing up for another year of huge live paintings at Beardfest this spring in New Jersey's strange and magical Pine Barrens, I started thinking about how I can incorporate this imagery in my personal work. Isolated, eternal, imperceptibly not-flat topography, tannin-filled water, and sandy soil--the Pine Barrens seem in many ways like a different planet. Whenever I'm there I half expect the weather to move in its own pattern, set apart from the rest of the world.

Here are some images I've dug up so far, of the Barrens and other things that led out from my initial explorations. Enjoy!
